And I agree with that, but the US ought to take a proactive stance rather than (as seems to be the case wrt efforts to develop a global climate strategy) turn our backs and act offended by the contents and implications of Kyoto. I don't honestly know the details of the Kyoto protocol, and I don't doubt that the US was asked to make major change from which China (e.g.) was largely exempt. Can you tell me the basis for the inequity? In other words what was the rationale behind the US taking what is seen as an unfair burden? Was it assumed that our wealth would allow us to do so?
