skipper - i just read your post to christine and wish i could have them
both in front of me to respond. i don't know whether we will ultimately
be able to sustain life on earth, barring natural disasters, but i
would think if we can get to other planets, we could take care of this
as well. but it does seem logical to work towards an ability to reach and
live on other planets. we have so many of the tools we need, i certainly
believe we are capable of the rest. the discovery of gold on mars would
no doubt do the trick. cooperation might be harder to come by as greed
would then be the major factor.(g)

you may well have answered this question many times before, so if you don't
wish to again i understand. but i'm curious as to what interests you so about
ayn rand. i started the book in my teens when it seemed everyone was reading
it, but didn't get past a few pages. herman hesse's 'stepponwolf' was
more to my liking. anyway, i don't remember what rand's books were about.
the references i've read here didn't give me much of a feel for it. tia.
