Good, solid analysis. I would also add the announcement of new products such as the 233+ notebook chips soon and 400 MHz chips next year, not to mention Merced down the road. The pipeline is full and the argument that no one needs that much power is old and was made when people were transitioning from 286's to 386's and from 386's to 486's and from 486's to Pentiums. History has shown that if you build it, they will come.

BTW, my applicatons at work bring my P200 to it's knees.
