There are those who see UN approval as ABSOLUTELY VITAL to any US operation against Iraq. I can't see it that way. There are countries we do want on our side- -Britain, Canada, and Australia are the most important. We've got 2 of those and Canada will probably join. More western European support would be nice but isn't likely. Eastern Europe remembers Soviet domination and is with us. China? Who knows? Who cares? While there are numerous other actual democracies, the thugs outnumber them in the UN. Depending on them to do the right and necessary thing is a bad bet.
