The bubble was the late 90s, there was no bubble in the early 90s ... there is no reason to suffer as if the US were in the same competitive position worldwide as we were in the early 80s, we are not. In the early 80s, the US made shoddy, noncompetitive goods. Now, we are the most efficient producer in the western world. This recession is being prolonged, by this war and the fallout from it (higher gas prices etc.). I don't agree with Tiger than this was just *any other* recession, but on the other hand it isn't the 30s either and there is no reason to assume we wouldn't have recovery by now if it weren't for domestic policy.
