I agree that a goal of hurting the US is wrong. I wasn't necessarily suggesting that, rather the change face of economic powers in the world embolden them to take stronger stands today than they otherwise would have in the past. As a note, I just noted you're getting some flak over on the pro-war thread. I wrote a post on your behalf complimenting your willingness to engage in a dialogue free of venom and insult, and that many of that thread's participants should learn from you. I don't think it'll do much, but what's right is what's right.
