Question for any remaining long term buy and holders left on this thread: what do you buy when sustained oil spikes and low consumer confidence virtually guarantee a recession?

I've been thinking bonds, but then I think that the Fed may have to up rates later this year to avoid inflation. Don't tell me gold, because I don't believe in gold as an investment. Real estate's already had its run, which thankfully, I've participated nicely in.

So what to buy now? Any ideas? I'm looking for something to put my cash in over the next year to two years, while the economy languishes and we possibly dip into another recession. Thoughts welcome.
