Those same countries want Saddam to go quietly in the night, not to be deposed thru a war.

We ALL want that. But if he doesn't go quietly in the night, he must be removed by force. And he hasn't shown any signs of going quietly.

Today, Turkey's Parliament turned down a $30 billion aid package and in the process, is proclaiming they don't want any part of the war.

No, they're negotiating. And I believe they have just priced themselves out of the market. I like Rumsfeld's quote Z mentioned about "democracies not being tidy". It is precisely what is happening with Turkey.

In the end, Turkey is going to accomodate our situation, I suspect. If not, fine ... we don't really need it.

This war is going very badly for us and not one shot has been fired.

This is nonsense. While it makes for interesting news days, the reality is that Bush is so clear in his thinking and determination there really has never been any doubt that he would accomplish what he was trying to do. A president who ran his administration on poll results could never accomplish a great success like this.
