You dad, my dad and my grandfather even. And I'm proud of them that they've always supported my beliefs to question authority. Indeed, "authority" was wrong during Vietnam and I strongly suspect "authority" is wrong again relative to Iraq.
Our concentration should be ending terrorism, not spawning more of it. This war will only draw more feelings like what you've described your dad has experienced; it will draw more hatred for the perpetrators of this killing (read: United States of America).
We're told we'll be welcomed liberators when we enter Iraq. How can any sensible human being even think this, when after invoking a 'Shock and Awe' bombing campaign that'll kill so many, many innocent people. Each family in Iraq will either have a family member(s) who has died, a friend or neighbor who has died and, like your dad was forced, will have family, friends and neighbors who've been forced to kill when they didn't want to. After this, we're gonna be welcomed liberators?
Just 'cause Bush is a fool, doesn't mean that we have to be. No sensible humane thinking person can conclude such a thing, that we will be welcomed liberators after we've killed them. |
