"So here's how I feel: I feel as if the president is presenting us with a beautiful carved mahogany table — a big, bold, gutsy vision. But if you look underneath, you discover that this table has only one leg. His bold vision on Iraq is not supported by boldness in other areas. And so I am terribly worried that Mr. Bush has told us the right thing to do, but won't be able to do it right. "

John,
As a hawk this is what i worry about as well. I admit it openly.
As a dove John, do you worry that doing the wrong thing and leaving Saddam and wmds in place might come back to haunt you down the road. Personally i wish John McCain or Joe Lieberman were president now. Or even Al Gore, if elected, might have had a better chance to pull it off if he would have had the guts to try.
My suggestion to Doves is to get behind Bush and "help him do it right" rather than hurling criticism after criticism upon him. 200,000 american troops on the ground. American credibility is at stake. Backing down now may be the beginning of the end for the free, democratic, pluralistic world. Bin Laden is watching us John, particularly you to see whether we will prove to be the weaklings the Muslim extremists think we are. The Iranians and Syrians are watching us to see if they will find it in their interests to stop the support the terrorism. Mike
