Agustus, you know Fidel Castro was the bogeyman a few decades ago. To some, he still is. Look at Saddam has formed his government: stock market, real estate market, universities, equal treatment of women, etc. What he'd want more than anything would be trading partners. Why would he want to kill his trading partners.
Yes, I think there is a point that he might do something for leverage in order to get the Palestinians a better break. But that should be done anyway, with or without him.
How come Castro hasn't sought out chemicals and biologics? I think we, realistically, have to examine the possibility that the bogeyman might be more of a political creation than a reality of destruction. Don't you think Saddam, right now with the bad economay, among other things, is good for Bush? Wasn't keeping Castro in check good for politicians back then?
Now, OBL is another matter and few anywhere would not agree that his agenda is a true bogeyman agenda. So let's deal with that. But more importantly, let's also deal with what gives OBL cause to recruit peole to his campaign. That's the real challenge. Going to war is both easy and dreadful. Making the world a better place so there is no terrorism is the more difficult challenge. Unfortunately, for people everywhere, it appears Bush is not up for that challenge. |
