Those are all good examples and would have been far better for the discussion than calling someone a coward.

I guess IMO the examples you used are based on hypotheticals and statistical probabilities. It doesn't mean that they're wrong but they don't necessarily reflect the true implications of being wrong with Saddam.

If we allow a guilty person to go free ( as I think we did with OJ ) that doesn't necessarily mean that person will be a threat to society. OJ could own every knife on the planet and not pose the same threat that one leader does with WMD. IN addition Saddam has already proven to be a threat as he has used WMD against people and countries. He has also ignored the UN resolution that provided him with peace for over 12 years. SO I find myself asking this question. If I choose to ignore that information could the results be more significant and harmful to the world than if we preemptively act now? I keep coming to the same conclusion - that being yes. I've found in my own life that when I ignore potential problems they only seem to get worse. Based on that I'm not real fired up about sending kids off to die but I fear the future ramifications for doing nothing enough so that in my own mind I view it as a preferable option. History is filled with examples that support both sides of this issue. The main difference is at no point in mans history has killing on a mass scale been as easy as it is now. Since that is a known truth the decision to ignore a problem could be more deadly than ever. I'm not sure that gives us the moral "all clear" sign but it puts a much more serious twist into the equation
