And if that happens, Iraq will be a horrible mess. HORRIBLE.

I don't believe this.

This isn't Afghanistan. All these people need, in order to pursue their own freedom, is for someone to get rid of Saddam. They have a functioning economy and infrastructure.

I do not believe we'll abandon them prematurely -- regardless of cost.

However, like almost everything related to this war has been, the negative aspects of American occupation have been totally overblown.

I watched this play out 12 years ago before the Gulf War. The predictions were so ridiculously off that during the first couple weeks of the war, I was literally waiting on the other shoe to fall. EVERYONE was caught off guard.

I must say, when I criticize liberals about misleading statements, the buildup to the Gulf War (and now to this one) are perfect examples. Liberals, in an effort to exaggerate the negative aspects of the war, make it sound much bigger, badder, worse, and bloody than it really will be. In this instance, the money is just one more negative aspect.

I've yet to see anyone point out that we should be able to eliminate the $50 Billion or so we've spent in the last decade on the no-fly zones alone.
