Sources told Daily Times that Pakistani agencies had conducted a raid at the house of a Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader at Westridge, Rawalpindi, in the wee hours on Saturday and arrested a Pakistani Ahmed Abdul Qudoos and two foreigners. They said though the operation was conducted by Pakistani agencies, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was assisting these agencies.
The sources said accused Ahmed Qudoos is the son of Mr Abdul Qudoos, a retired officer of the United Nations, and his mother is president of the JI’s women’s wing, Rawalpindi. The sources added that the FBI officials conducted the raid when the parents of the accused were away to attend a wedding. The officials, armed with sophisticated weapons, entered the house and “kidnapped” Qudoos, besides taking away the US currency notes and other important documents, the sources said.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Rawalpindi, Marwat Shah said neither a case was registered, nor any official of Rawalpindi Police was present at the time of the raid. |
