<< As it turns out Saddam is a bad guy, he just doesn't happen to be a big threat to either the U.S. or his neighbors. >> Saddam IS a threat to the U.S. and his neighbors. If we look at history, the behaviour of criminally insane dictators is very unstable. They will murder millions and they will go to war, for conquest. In Saddam's case, he also feels that he is God driven. Saddam's neighbors are scared to death of him. That is why they don't come out against him. The Arab nations remembered it, when George H. told the Kurds and Shiites to rise up against Saddam, followed by the uprising, followed by George H. refusing to help either the Kurds of the Shiites. Tens of thousands of Kurds and Shiites were massacred by Saddam's forces, while America's military might idled. It reminded me of the massacre of 70,000 of Jews in the Warsaw ghetto. They rose up against the Nazis, with most Jews just using stones, or their bare fists, to fight against armed Nazi troops. The Russian troops had fought their way to the outside of Warsaw, and they knew about the uprising. Instead of coming to the rescue, the Russian troops were ordered, by Stalin, to just sit quietly, outside the city, until all Jewish voices were silenced. The Stalins and Saddams, of the world, come from the same caste. Will Saddam try to use his chemical and biological weapons against America, or his neighbors? You say positively NO. I don't trust Saddam as much as you do. |
