Thomas, In any adversarial situation you have 2 enemies. management and unions. Without a limt on one or the other we end up with a bad situation.
Remember a bad job pays $6 per hour in the USA. Bad for the worker and for the economy, and good for the company. The worker has little money to use for consumer goods, so he and the economy suffer. Company does well.

Another bad job is where a strong union forces a low skill job to get $50 per hour in wages and benefits. Sure it is good for the worker, but bad for jobs in general as the company automates as far as it can, thus it needs fewer of those $50/hour workers. Has anyone seen how employment has fallen in the automotive sector in the last 30 years? Yet production has increased, and we have given offshore companies foot holds in this country.

Those job losses at GM are the inexorable aspects of the economy to these high wages.

Same happens in the airline industry. Guys who carry bags who feel they are worth $50,000 + per year.

We are all worth $50,000 per year......but the unions do not want that.
Can you imagine a place where your police.garbage/postal/paperboy/McDonalds server...etc etc, all got $50,000 a year and all were in the same union? Total workers union of all employees in the country.

Did not a system like that recently collapse ?

Most unions want offshore companies to get unions to make their wages high so those companies lose export markets to the USA, thus killing the jobs in those offshore companies.
Does the Mexican union not see that wage parity with USA unions = zero Mexican jobs?

How stupid can one get.

No we need to set a minumum wage AND a maximum wage.
