I'm think OBL is dead. I feel quite sure that with his gift for theatrics he would have arranged something on the anniversary of 9/11 if he were still alive, and we would have had some visual proof that he was alive, in taped form.

I think Bush has thrown out so many different contexts for war with Iraq, he'd have a hard time backing down (unless war becomes downright impossible- then we'll see an interesting tap dance)- I never really thought of the US as a country where saving face could cause a man to rush his country into bad decisions, but I think we may be. I underestimated the silliness of our leaders by a considerable amount. After Nixon how could I have any doubts? But I guess hope springs almost eternal, although I'd say my hope in our leaders higher faculties is pretty much gone at this point.
