A Manhattan Project type of effort toward alternative energy use would have been one productive response to terrorism financed by oil money ... and it still would, if begun now .... the perma-war is in fact 'all about oil', it cannot be otherwise, even if the purpose is only to deny to islamofascists the funds to propagate their own perma-war

Every building needs a roof anyway, it's sort of the definition of the term 'building', they don't all have walls but they sure do all have roofs .... so a roofing system that is at the same time a solar cell system, this is well within reach of current technology, and could be made at a decent price with economies of scale .... frame it with fine strong straight-grained organically grown essence-of-sunshine british columbian softwood lumber, and you'll have a fine start

I could never understand why solar cells were so expensive ... really they are just silicon stuck to something else, right? .... window glass in the 1700s was incredibly expensive and available only in small sheets, now optically perfect glass is rolled out of factories faster than the eye can follow, and it's cheap .... and that's just silicon dioxide, heat applied to sand which is then flattened, basically
