Kerry and McCain are best friends. If Gore had picked Kerry as a running mate McCain is on record as saying he would have had to become neutral. That's friendship above partisanship. So it's possible they could run together, but not probable. McCain also has been betrayed by Bush on campaign finance reform, veterans rights, global warming, fuel efficiency and the tax cuts for the rich. He might as well switch parties if Bush is in charge.
