Options to war

VOICE OF THE PEOPLE (LETTER)

Evanston -- With all due respect to the president, going to war is not his decision to make.

The choice rests with the people of the United States, the United States Congress and, ultimately, the United Nations. It is a collective decision.

At present the world's stakeholders want to continue inspections and other diplomatic approaches to the situation in Iraq.

If George W. Bush could ever relinquish war as an option, he would find that effective, peaceful solutions abound; perhaps not as spectacular as war but certainly more conducive to the survival of this planet.
