The man isn't going to step down just because he's asked too, Patricia. Or because it would be the best thing for his country. He's proven that. The ONLY thing he understands is FORCE! Don't you see that now? Look at what has happened since the US has started moving troops. First he absolutely, positively would never agree to inspections. The US steps up the pressure. Suddenly its a good idea. Initially he cooperates little. The US steps up the pressure. He gives in some. He gives his report. The US calls it a lie. He screams. The US steps up the pressure. A few things "he didn't know about" are found. Blix complains about obstruction. The US steps up the pressure. A more few things "he didn't know about" are found. He won't destroy the missiles. The US steps up the pressure. He starts destroying them. Now he says he won't continue unless the US backs off completely.

Know something? I don't he will get his way. He may get invaded if he persists in this, but he won't get his way.

Two Gulf states have called for his resignation. Maybe if more join, the Iraqi military might find the courage to tell Saddam to get out of town or get shot.
