They look like image-building ads, like the Budwiser ads where Augie Busch talks about how his grandad built the company, etc.

I don't know why the Japanese feel like they need to do this, expect that maybe they really want to say "Hey, don't forget we're over here as you trade with China, and gee whiz, aren't those North Koreans scary!"
