You geeks make fun of the low end, but the fact is that is where Intel has always made the bread and butter. Success in the high end is not even certain for Intel yet. They can and will run into stiff competition from more and more companies as they move up. Meanwhile, the masses want something under $500 if it does what they want and they don't care what you like (not you Tony, I'm talking to the board.).
Intel is making a big mistake which is deciding how they can make a lot of money and then attempting to force it down everyone's throat. If you think Microsoft is going along with this you should spend more time reading what they actually say rather than what people on this board say they say. Microsoft is aggresively going after the entertainment industry as they want to put Windows CE in all your cable boxes. They even offered to let the cable companies use Windows CE for free in exchange for a percent of future profits. The cable companies may not go for this though as there are other operating systems they may like better.

Point is these cable boxes will be given away free with subscriptions and they will not likely have Intel inside, but they will offer things an Intel PC can't like well cable TV as well as almost everything that is on a PC. You will probably all make fun of my simple explanations now. I'm sorry if I write in such a way so as people can understand me. It seems to run in the family.
