Report: Red Herring to Cease Operations

San Francisco -- After 10 years of publication, San Francisco-based RHC Media plans to close its Red Herring magazine, Dow Jones reported on Friday. Founded in 1993, Red Herring was closely read by the New England technology community and has held a number of events in the area. It provides in-depth analysis and reporting on the technology sector. After selling more than 3,300 ad pages in 2000, however, it sold just over 400 last year. A source close to the situation, the company had hired an investment bank, DeSilva & Phillips, to find a buyer for the publication, but when word of a potential sale leaked, advertisers and potential buyers balked. With the magazine's final issue now on newsstands, DeSilva & Phillips is planning to sell its assets. biz.yahoo.com
