I did '69-'70 in an ambulance company in Germany. We were so short handed I did parts, dispatch, wrecker and driving an ambulance. Driving an ambulance never was the job that was called for. IE, drive to Frankfort to pick up a rat's head for rabies testing and get handed a preme baby in an incubator. Job for the real ambulances. Delivered that one safe and crying for the first time in his life. No matter what the orders said you got what they had and the plane took off.

One night I got 4 psycopathic killers instead of a rat's head. No MP in the vehicle and no following Jeep with armed MPs. SNAFU, like usual. These idiots were chewing on their leather restraints. No 40 mph limit that night.
