I'm not saying people shouldn't be responsible. But, people do get in over their heads sometimes. It's not that the banks should bail them out. We have bankruptcy protection for corporations in which their debts are wiped out. Should we get rid of Chap 11 and Chap 7? There's a social contract in our system that says that company's debts are wiped out in bankruptcy, why shouldn't the same apply to individuals?
