Another France insult (at the end of this story) : I recently learned that my dad studied French when he was a young guy. He was trained as a chemical engineer. He was telling his story (as to why it was considered reasonable to require an engineering student to study French then). He said something like : "Back then ..." I asked if I could please interrupt (to make a joke). I said : "Back then, when France used to be a real country ..." Jon. P.S. My brother added : "Back then, when France still believed it was a real country ..."
