<i.I believe with my whole heart that Christ did in fact return "quickly"
I think one would be the better served to rejoice in the fact of his coming in the first place ? Certainly was an extremely fearful and barbaric world in need of such young idealists of our species ....the Romans were most cruel, and there were even more barbaric counterparts in the east yet to arise...the Goths and Visi Goths , Tartars and the Mongols.
within a generation (40-42 years) In 70 AD at the fall of Jerusalem.
That would be just 2 years (historically) after the reign of Nero ended , and just 6 years after the great fire destroyed much of Rome, in 64AD . The "Second Coming" would then have taken place under Titus Flavius Vespasianus or Vespasian (9-79; emperor, 69-79). Vespasian restored the peace and brought stability to the Empire following the rule of Nero.
At which time all the dead were resurrected and called to the judgement seat of Christ.
All the dead were ressurected ? There were many "dead" in the world at that time , from out of many corners of the world , and dying all the time , and being born ... just which dead are you referring ?
The holding places - call them what you will - were emptied. Until them men "slept" in their graves waiting for Christ to perfect the way into the true "holy of holies" behind the true veil and at the right hand of God the Father.
Yes , I would agree with you that death is much like sleep . Do you dream when you are dead ? That would certainly indicate an afterlife !<G> And those "holding places" for the "dead" ...now that is intriguing , could you elaborate ? That is quite a little area for the conjecture of the imagination...describing the "after-death" state. By what authority do you draw upon to use such a description of our being sent into a "holding pen" awaiting this final judgement ?
I might be able to assist you , if you fail! ;-) |
