you repeat an assertion that is misleading, at best. The United States purchases oil for Iraq thru the UN Administrated "Oil for Food" Program. This is different than development and production contracts (on Iraqi oil fields) with the Iraqi Government (as the French and Russians do). It is currently illegal for U.S. oil companies to enter into exploration or production agreements with the current Iraqi Government. re:"The US also has oil contracts with Iraq.
