In this country, people born into poor homes have the opportunity to earn a lot of money and spend it how they choose. Most people in today's so-called upper class have spent considerable time in the middle and lower classes. Most people don't "look down" on lower economic classes because most have been there.

The exception of course would be people like the Kennedys, Ted Turners, certain Hollywood types, etc.
