This was on the Ascend mailing list today. It might explain why the purported millions of K56Flex client modems are not connecting.

Now ascend says rockwell pulled most of the k56flex 1.1 out of their 1.0
release. This means you do _NOT_ really have k56flex on 5.0Ap16, you
still have the pre-pre-standard k56plus grubbage. Not that it matters,
there are no k56flex clients out anyway. Matt, Kevin, this is what your
front line techs told me...

Word is 2 weeks or so before ascend gets code that REALLY has k56flex 1.1
on it, and a week after they get it to test it before release. Yay
rockwell! I'll do some more digging on this, but it explains why nobody
has flash upgrades for the end-user modems yet.
