The Free World will be just fine. Right now people are just deciding whether they want to be part of that world. They don't truly want us to go away, at least not the ones who are still thinking clearly.

What strikes me is how upset some of Bush's detractors become when you try to make Saddam the issue. Focusing on the specifics of what he has done is not an exercise they want to participate in. Or they just say, "of course he is bad, but he's just a two bit dictator who can't hurt us" etc.

Or they fall back on "war is always (or almost always) wrong" (except when you are dealing with Hitler, the Kaiser, Pol Pot, Kosovo, or some other situation where a savage nutball is wreaking havoc). But oops, Saddam is a savage nutball who has wreaked his share of havoc, so maybe we are gonna have to say that war is always wrong. So put up the usual signs, chant a few John Lennon lyrics (but NOT "Happiness is a Warm Gun") and talk about how dying is bad. And don't let anybody change the subject to Saddam, even though he is the subject.
