I would have been for the prevention of the Gulf War in the first place. But, since the deed had been done. I was for removing Saddam from Kuwait. Not on the agression issue, because all sorts of agression goes unchecked. But, because, Saddam was a wacko and would have continued to invade other countries unless he was shown that the international community wouldn't stand for it.

In any case, I do think the the Bush 41 administration knew of Saddam's intentions to seize Kuwait's oil. From what I've read, they even admitted after the war that they thought he would stop at the oil fields and leave the rest of Kuwait alone. Why they didn't do what the British did in the early 1960s and try to protect Kuwait with troops, is a question for the ages.
