<Any suggestions for reasonably priced sources for both would be welcome.>
Chuck is head of software engineering at Signal/DBC/BMI (one firm), so you will get his perspective. I think their products are good, but they may be more than what you need. The obvious choice (to me) is Internet Trader, "IT", soon to be called Real Time or "RT" Trader.
They are launching Real Time on Aug 1st or there abouts. Not without their kinks (what service is?), but you can download the software and check it out for free on 15 minute delayed. The interface is one of the best I've seen, though there are a lot of potential improvements being requested by users (hopefully to be responded to). Their site is naq.com . The nice thing besides the easy intuitive interface and full functionality is the price. Free 15 minute delayed, but this includes time and sale, indexes, fundamental data, great charting, all exchanges, global scan criteria and some news (Claris), and soon to include full options. Real time offers the same interface/features for around $60 / month (compare to several to many hundred elsewhere). You could "round out" your package with a great internet news/chart program called Investor Insight (from Intuit) for $10 / month at: intuit.com . Free 30 day trial.
There ARE problems with data feed and server connections, but they are switching to new servers this week. They are from Canada, so you ALSO get Canadian quotes. Check out their SI discussion thread at: Subject 11150
But also, perhaps do a "full-text" search for the terms "real time quotes" and spend some time reading the various threads, including THIS one. Worth the several hours, IMO.
Hope this helps, and good luck-
