I read Ron's post. It contained one of the stupidest assertions i've ever read:

I guess you believe that the Civil War to free blacks should never have happened because some children died.

The South started the war to preserve slavery.

There was much protest on the left against NATO's bombing of Belgrade.

Still NATO was unanimous in its action. That includes France, Germany, and Belgium. For some reason Clinton was better than Bush at getting them to go along.

Those who worry about a preemptive attack on Iraq are in pretty good company. Consider these responses to Israel's preemptive attack on Iraq in 1981:

"Armed attack in such circumstances cannot be justified. It represents a grave breach of international law." - Margaret Thatcher

"The means Israel chose to quiet its fears have hurt, not helped, the peace and security of the area" - Jeane Kirkpatrick

Kirkpatrick also called it "shocking" and compared it to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.

Reagan had the US vote yes with the UN in condemning Israel's preemptive strike.

So the left and right have been known to question the wisdom of preemption.
