I think the realization that leaving is not very probable for a very long time for large populations is the only thing that will keep us from destroying nature.<<

Beautifully stated. I am in absolute agreement. The earth is not disposable. If man cannot learn to live in harmony with his environment, he will surely trash any planets he may colonize. The real challenge is not to leave the earth and colonize outer space. It is to conquer and control our imbalances and addictions and learn to live well on and with this earth.

Having said this, I think the exploration of space is very exciting and I am in favor of it. However, I would rather see the funds spent to help those suffering on the planet earth, first.
