One of my fonder memories is being taken (as a pre-schooler) down to the railroad yards by my father who had been a fireman. We were standing by a large steam locomotive, and he put a 50-cent piece under one of the front wheels. The engineer tried to start the locomotive, but it couldn't get any traction to start. Here was this huge machine just spinning its drive wheels. Very impressive - especially to me at that age. lurqer
