Our only moral failing was allowing the chemical sales to go through with the knowledge that Iraq could covert them and use them as weapons. We also double-crossed Iraq by selling arms to Iran as part of the Iran-Contra scandal. But at least that was done primarily for humanitarian purposes.

All our other efforts to keep the Iran-Iraq war going as long as possible were noble and just. As was our refusal to officially get in bed with Saddam.
