I'm not anti-Israel but I do want our government to look long and hard at their policies as they apply to Israel. I don't think you can totally side with a country and expect to avoid the very things that plague that country. By the same token Arafat is not exactly a great global leader and I have problem with his logic as well. There has to be some middle ground and IMO there was such an offer on the table that was rejected a few years back. I'd be lying if I said I totally understood the offer so I'll let someone with more knowledge of that issue step in. I can't help but believe resolution to the Palestinian / Israeli conflict would go a long way in helping the entire situation in the middle east but I'm not smart enough to know how to fix it. I guess I'm in good company since nobody else has been able to fix it either
