It is because of these kind of posts that Paul headlined his thread, "No Political Rants," Rascal. No matter how many of these nuts you find to post, we will still have dancing Iraqis in Baghdad in a couple of weeks.

Hardly. James Carroll is nobody's idea of a nut. His most recent book is Constantine's Sword: The Church and the Jews. It's a deeply serious study of the history of anti-semitism in the Catholic Church. 750 pages of it. He's a former Catholic priest. Has written nine novels and a wonderful memoir entitled, An American Requim, about his growing opposition to the Vietnam War with a father who was a military man.

At the moment, he's a research associate at the Center for the Study of Values in Public Life at Harvard Divinity School.

He writes regular columns for the Boston Globe. Has done so for some time.

When Carroll writes, it's always worth reading and listening.

Disagreement is fine with someone like that; but he's definitely not a nut.

What Paul does when he reads posts like these is certainly Paul's business. But these are not political rants. If you or he can't handle this level of serious reflection about the Bush administration's foreign policy when combat has not broken out, I fear to see what will happen when it does.
