>> I thought Paul Kedrosky's recent article on RM about the death of the market was we know it due to domination of programg trading was very interesting

I like the fake chart. Very cool.

This reminds of the Battle Bot programs on the tube, where robots duke it out to the death. Except in this case, it's "My program team is gonna take your programming team to the cleaners."

It also reminds of Gary Kasparov vs. Big Blue. Yes, in a game of no chance, like chess, a computer can be programmed to beat a human player. But could a computer playing a more complex game, with many random variables, beat a human player? In world in which politics, global capital flows, industrial creative destruction, how can all these variables be programmed into a computer?

A few thoughts:

1. Think he's making too many assumptions about how the software will be used. Is the software making all the decisions, or are their operators, guiding the direction of trade.

2. If the software makes all the decisions, then computers are only as smart as the people that program them. Most likely the programmers would program in their own emotional biases into these systems.

3. As the market changes, they will have to keep tweaking the code to make money.

4. When one of these computers blows up an account, watch them pull the plug on the whole idea.
