No. UNSCR 1441 could only be passed 15:0 because the wording was deliberately kept vague, recall the famous "serious consequences".

While I don't agree with Schröder's policy he has been very consistent from the beginning and certainly never consented to an early war in non-public communication. So there was no back-stabbing.

Powell is probably disappointed that he wasn't able to convince France, Germany, Russia and China. But I prefer the current dissonance to a foul compromise.

And giving the French and the Germans the payback they so richly deserve.

What, exactly, are these countries doing to block war preparation? Turkey's "no" is a far more serious obstacle.
