I agree. My inital impression is indeed that Nextwave's technology choice does provide convincing evidence that for a de novo mobile data-only WAN, EVDO is the best of the available choices. They would have committed to iBurst or flashOFDM instead if those technologies were actually 1) faster and 2) cheaper to deploy (as they both claim). This is again, assuming that the lack of an appropriate multimode ASIC was not the deal breaker. And also taking it for granted that NextWave was not influenced by political ties to QCOM.
