You asked BubbaFred: "Are you illiterate in addition to to dumb?" I don't think that you are being fair to him. That is a two part question, which might give him a problem. Let me offer my neutral advice, to make it easier on Bubba. Separate the questions to Bubba. Ask him first: "Are you illiterate?" If he finds that question difficult, you could rephrase it, using fewer words. Then ask him, "Are you dumb"? He will probably ask you for more time, to finish the questions, or ask you for some clues to the answer. Try, at least, to humor him. I don't expect any thanks from either BubbaFred, or you, for my efforts on his behalf.
