Actually the French armed Iraq with nuclear technology 25 years ago, but fortunately the Israelis took out the reactor in a daring raid. But it is true that the U.S. supplied Iraq with some things during the Iran-Iraq war, which in retrospect was a mistake.

As for boycotting things French, I understand where the sentiment comes from, but I think at this point it is a bit over the top to do that. I mean, they are disagreeing with us about a matter (an important one) of foreign policy. That is their perogative. The one thing they have done which I think is inexcusable is to refuse to agree to take steps to protect Turkey in case of an attack from Iraqi missiles. I believe their NATO obligations required that.
