Did/do you spend much time looking through a telescope?

My kids got one earlier this year, like I mentioned on the
Porch. It's not huge nor very powerful. It's
magnification is only 525X. Do you have any idea if I'll be
able to see much with it? I figure I'll try to point it at
a few planets and stuff. I wonder if I'll need a bigger
scope to see Saturn and it's rings. I assume it might just
look like a bright dot.
