Michael, Most folks, both left and right, think that war is inevitable at this point--the left because of crazy george and the right because of determined george. I just need to get this off my chest and your post provides the opportunity. Nothing agains you. The idea that 'the right' is pro-war and 'the left' is against the war is incorrect. There is a substantial movement on the right against the war and a large chunk of the left who support the war. Both the far left and far right oppose the war. To complicate matters, you have to wonder how much support for the war (where it exists) is also support for the new Bush foreign policy doctrine and how much opposition to the war is really opposition to the overall doctrine not specifically the Iraq war. I think Virginia Postrel's "Dynamist vs. Stasist" distinction is useful to understand where the lines get drawn. I don't find the right/left distinction helpful at all when understanding support or opposition to the war. Paul
