Good Post Sam... I just can't imagine the Bush administration spending a 100 Billion to prevent poverty and war, instead of spending a 100 Billion for caring out a war.

Foreign policy by its very nature is reactive instead of creative. The last time we had a creative foreign policy was after WW11 and the implementation of the Marshall Plan.

By the time Bush comes up for re-election the opposition will be claiming that the $100 billion spent on the war effort could have been used to pay for complete health care for the 75 million uninsured Americans and well as all of their prescription needs.

I think that Bush and Company (Ashcroft, Cheney, Powell, and the Republican leadership) have painted themselves into a corner with the War mentality...and there is no way out.)
As an existentialist would say, "You can't get there from here" (peace without war).

JMO...Jerome
