got some very bad news today. i have on occassion ranted about the quality of tomatoes found in supermarkets. to get around this i purchase San Marzanos by the caseload to use for marinara and etc etc etc.

i was informed today i would not receive any more supplies until september because the crop was weather-damaged and, well, they've run out.

don't know what we're going to do. there is a local supplier with a year-round greenhouse, but he is not going to be able to pick up the slack. plus he grows them in soil that is imo too rich and the tomatoes lose their subtlety and...

i'm sure i'm boring everyone at this point. so i'll just say this has tragic implications and leave it at that.
