Monaco, that place is an overcrowded slum

My poor, poor, ignorant boy...

Never travelled outside the US, hm? Just how self-centered, uncultivated, and plain simple ignorant you have to be to say that I have no idea :-)

"Slum", hm? A place where there is no crime, where streets are washed with soap water every morning, a tax haven that asks for a lofty bank account in Monaco just for application to residency, where banks don't even open accounts for less than several hundred thousand dollars... A Mediterranean paradise with more than 300 days of sunshine per year, for the very wealthy and spoiled, with an aversion to taxes, flanked by the Italian coast on one side and Nice/Cannes/St Tropez on the other, counting among its residents pretty much all Formula 1 racers including Hakkinen and Coulthard (who also owns a hotel here), and quite a few international glitterati your wife reads about in gossip magazines...

I don't think I have ever met anyone else so pathetically ignorant about this part of the world, and so oblivious to his own ignorance that he can actually call it "overcrowded" and "slum" :-)

I have to go now, but I will try to remember your penetrating insight tomorrow for a laugh, while having lunch on the beach. Weather forecast for this weekend is quite brilliant...
